TASER™ madness

Well I guess we all have own private collections of TASER™ atrocity stories now.

Fern at Birth Pangs has a list.
There's the bride who got it twice in the abdomen while running away from the police who'd just stun-gunned her policeman dad at her reception.
And the woman dropping her son off at school who refused to sign off on a traffic ticket.
And another woman who was breaking up a fight among neighbourhood kids.

The distinguishing characteristic about Fern's list is that all these victims were pregnant at the time - one of them eight months pregnant.
I wonder if you score extra points for that.

Go.

the irony is that if wildlife officers were to use tasers for tagging animals, relocation etc. , just a couple of deaths and they would be recalled.

so what's the deal with humans, and pregnant ones? the slow build to becoming a police state has escaped the public's eye. how is it propaganda can blindfold so many? the polish fellow woke more up but what a hell of a price. others still remain drooling in their sleep.

Good point, Scoutie. We like teh kittehs, not teh peeps.
What's the deal?
The deal is TASER™ makes money and cops get to take a lazy approach to property rights enforcement.

btw Havril's back. ;)

It seems to me that some cops will use the Taser if they get pissed off at you. Hardly an alternative to lethal force, particularly when you consider that it is sometimes lethal.

This will not end until the judicial book gets thrown hard at one (or more) of these trigger-happy twits. Unfortunately, I see little sign that that's going to happen any time soon. There was a case in Edmonton not so long ago where a cop tasered (sorry TASER people, I'm using it as a verb!) a kid in custody who was shackled to a chair simply and explicitly as punishment for lying. The cop was acquitted, and worse, there were people writing in to the local rags saying, essentially, "Good job, Mr. Policeman."

Holy shit. That sounds rather close to torture.
