Remembrance Day 2009

.
Chief of the Defence Staff Gen. Walt Natynczyk : "The parliamentary motion directs that it will be the end of the military mission in July of 2011. I mean those are the words that are there. And for me it's pretty clear. What we do for the Canadian Forces are military missions."

Aside from changing the word 'for' to 'with' I track you pretty well word for word. Not that I don't recall similar statements in the past about 'getting out' that haven't proved true.
I've been posting a lot on Afghanistan, being more than annoyed at making a war zone out of a country in famine...and burning their crops. It sure makes a mockery of any notion Canadians have of themselves as 'the Good Guys'.
What could one expect when leaving the parameters of 'peacekeeping' for the UN ( keeping an existing peace ) for adventuring with a treaty organization tasked with defence of the Atlantic gone to a land war in Asia ? Talk about 'Mission Creep'... and the late arrival of Orwell's '1984' !
