Some people hate the Americans.
I don't.
Americans are just wankers.
We, on the other hand, are colonized by wankers.*
Eleanor Grant has a great piece up, tracing the history and players of "deep integration", or, as the Canadian Council of Chief Executives winningly puts it : "creating a single economic space".
The only thing I would add to her summary is that it's always worth dropping by the CCCE website from time to time to listen to them take credit for it.

Hi Alison,
This entry is right on. I'm glad we found each other. I'm blog rolling you and then I'll subscribe through feedblitz. We "true" islanders need to keep in contact.

Thanks Alison!
That is a fantastic resource.

Sorry I am so stupid AND too stubborn to learn to link. I'm still suppressing the urge to smash the machines...
Oooops. Shit! I forgot. I believe in non-violet revolution...
Peace, babies
wb : Nothing wrong with a little 'violet revolution' from time to time. ;-)
Here is the link to the Common Ground story you cite.
While I do agree with much of it, since when did the left start referencing the research of 'Swift Boat Veteran' Jerome "rag heads are boy bumpers" Corsi ? Vive le Canada has also reprinted a few of his Human Events Online articles. Strange bedfellows indeed.
Corsi's crusade against deep integration is based on rampant homophobia and xenophobia, his fear of the USA being polluted by "fags and ragheads" as he so charmingly puts it on Free Republic. Doesn't make his research wrong, but I'd definitely check it very very carefully before accepting any of it.
Alison
It was only a quisling spotting! I rarely agree with Geoff Olsen who goes all over the map without the benefit of a moral compass, although I do admit to chuckling over a few of his cartoons.
Corsi is definitely a whack job.

...and while I'm interested in revolutions that I can dance to, I abhor violets.
Peace, babies.
Yes, sorry, wb.
Evidently I just have to catch one whiff of the name Corsi to get all knickersy bunchy.
Here is the much better link on Corsi as provided by wb.
